Cold room

Dont know if this is a heating question or not. The room on the northeast side of my house is significantly colder that the rest of my house. We have a 3 bedroom ranch built in 1951. The basement is dry and usually warm. The insulation in the attic seems ok, but looks older. We live in northeast Ohio and winter is on its way. Any info would be great.

If the room doesn't have a return vent then the air can't circulate properly, especially if you close the door.

if its like my nor/east room, not getting much sun in there. You should check the small things first. Are the windows leaking?, any drafts coming in, check outside wall outlets, any draft, use insulation that goes just under the cover plates. Before, my boys were great for telling me that its cold in their room but of course they needed the window cracked a bit for fresh air, go figure.

What kind of floor is in that room??? Is there enough insulation under it???

Air leakage, insulation, and lack of sun are all possible culprits. What type of heat do you have in your house?

I would look at the supply of heat to the room first. What size pipe, what size vent in the room, location of the vent (floor, wall, ceiling).
