cold as ice...

hey this is my first post so im hoping some people can really help moving to england in a few weeks and moving in with a friend. we need to convert one of her rooms downstairs into an office.....she tells me that in the 1950s it was used as a larder ( i think thats what it was called) prety much a fridge for storing food, so it has always been cold. im a student and cant afford to get it insulated but is there a cheaper solution to keeping it reasonably warm?

im going to buy a electric heater from argos but they are expensive on electricity so any cheaper options are very much welcomed!

Your cheapest alternative is probably to insulate it. It'll cost you a few hundred dollars, which I'd expect would be recovered in a few months of electric bills.

Kerosene heaters are less expensive to run than electric space heaters, but they smell bad, and they make me nervous because of fire-dangers.
