Code - Framing Under 2nd Floor Bathtub
Does anyone know if under conventional circumstances you need additional framing (double joists) under a 2nd floor bath tub? I can't find any info in my IRC / BOCA code book. I am going to ask my inspector too - but am curious, and sometimes our inspectors refer us to the GC or Structural Engineer, and that would be DIY me on this project.

We're looking to place a conventional acrylic tub on a 2nd floor, a new addition. It will rest on 2x12 joists spaced 16" o.c., all within code. If we have to add double joists it might stop us in our tracks a bit b/c we've already pulled a ton of electrical wiring through parts of those same joists, and we would now have to pull it all out and rewire if we add double joists now. That's enough to make me put in a shower!

How long is the span of the 2 X 12's

The 2x12s span 18'-5". They're Southern Yellow Pine SS 16" o.c. (The maximum span for them in IRC is 22'-10".)
