cheaper alternative to ceramic tile for shower

expanding toilet room to full bath in basement.

plumbing and waste not an issue. two sides of the room and floor are concrete. window is already there.
i would like to cover the shower and the concrete with something that is easier and cheaper than custom tile.
i do not want a pre-fab unit, but, the shower is planned to be an open type,no door, maybe curtain, walk in without barrior.

venting not an issue. with a concrete floor and two of the three walls of shower also concrete does anybody have an alternative to tile that is not as expensive.

i like tile but the area is about 150 sq.ft. in total plus floor. i haven't a clue as to costs of covering. does having concrete for walls and floor make a cost difference?
this is to be a functional bath, not a spa, just a take dirty clothes off and clean up room before entering the civilized part of the house. any advise is appreciated,

No ideas---even concrete need to be water proofed---water will pass through it---

perhaps an epoxy coating--sorry--I'm a tile guy---

Home construction has been an evolution of technology.....

There is a good reason ceramic tiles continue to be one of the better methods...next would be prefab fiberglass panels.....

What your asking for has not be invented yet....and if new, a lot more expensive than tile.....

Do you have something like a Habitat for Humanity Re-Store near you? I have found some great deals there if patient. More than enough tile to do the project you suggest showed up once for next to nothing per tile and a fraction of what it cost in a high end tile store. It was nice, real, Italian tile that must have been misordered and overflow for a large project somewhere. I am not a tile guy but certainly have put it in most projects of mine. Or tile guys have.

You could try to seal concrete with an epoxy or even a silicone type product but you will be at it again when it cracks, and it will, as the concrete flexes.

I know why I don't like them but why not a liner of some sort?

cheaper than tile? how about real cheap tile?

you could do something like a garage floor paint or other epoxy paint, but it would look very cheap compared to tile, and that paint can be pricey too.

Taint going to be all that cheap no matter what you use---that floor needs to be waterproofed before tile---along with at least a foot or two of the wall---

Hydroban by Latacrete is a very good product for that ---
