Changing fan in kitchen wall?

Hey guys, there is a fan in our kitchen wall over the Stove and the fan's motor got burnt out by the pull chain which releases and closes the outside wall cover, the chain got stuck around the fan's motor housing so I need to replace the fan and it's housing. Problem is I have no idea where to get this particular fan and housing since it looks like this may have been in this house for many years, we've owned this house for 15 years now and that was there who knows how long before? Please see pic below

If you notice, the fan is housed on a straight vertical piece of metal in the cylinder and bolted on to it by 2 bolts and nuts, i would prefer to get the same housing so it would be a simple replacement but if there are any other simple options I am all ears?

Standard fan motor. Remove the motor and take any electric motor shop and they will sell or order you the correct replacement.

mike,

you could check out Broan's site. here's one http://www.broan.com/products/produc...d-e7ee7e825343

you'd have to check out the specs and see how it compares with the measurements of the one you currently have. hope this helps!

Just called up a local Electric Motor repair guy who told me to get a new system because I won't get anyone to repair such a small motor and even if I do, it would cost maybe more than a new one and since the chances of me fining this same fan is remote then I have no choice.

did you check out the link I gave you?

Yes, they have the same fans at Home Depot. My priority as mentioned here was mainly to try to get the same fan so I won't have to change the entire system.

Looks like you have about 45 years of grease and dirt and old yuckky dust in there. Time for a new one, dont you think?

Those were common in mobile homes and worked very well. A supplier of that nature might have what you need.

You don't want the motor repaired. You want a replacement. My local motor shop stocks all sorts of fan motors and can order an exact replacement if he doesn't have it in stock.
