ceiling opinions

I'm replacing a ceiling in a room. It's 2x6 cathedrial,2' o.c.I'm thinking of using 1/2sheetrock.I was going to either run furring strips across the rafters 16" o.c, or maybe, I may just block each seam with furring strip material? any suggestions?

The quickest way would be to use 1"x strapping across the whole ceiling rather than blocking between the joists. You're on the right track though, 1/2" will sag on 2' centers....
