Cedar vs Fir

I am building a new fence and am looking at cedar and fir blanks. Fir is less expensive, any idea around durabiltiy and how it takes stain??

Cedar vs Fir

fir is basicly untreated lumber you frame with(did that make sense??) Cedar has alot of natural decay resistance,,I am SURE cedar would outlast fir 2-3 times over,,,fir will rot pretty darn quickly unless painted ALOT!!!

IF you possibly can,,,select the cedar,,it will help keep your honey-do projects down. (I always HATE replacing things for the 'second' time)

Cedar vs Fir

Fir would work for a fence only if it is properly primed, painted, and maintained. I would strongly advocate for Cedar.
