Cantilevered garage shelving

Hello all. I would like to create some garage shelving that will cantilever out a bit and was wondering what the maximum weight I can support would be, given the proposed design...

I will be supporting the shelves with 2x4s spaced 12in or 16in O.C. Approximately 2 feet will be fully supported with an additional 3 ft. cantilevered out beyond the support.

If this were a cross section (pardon the crude illustration), it would look something like...

Wall ------------------------------------------(2x4)
| |----------------------------------------------
| |........... (2ft)..... |_| <---- 4x4 beam
| |........................ | |
| |.........................| | <---- 4x4 post

TIA for any help
