We are building a deck (approx. 28x12) and I found a local guy getting rid of some brand new Veranda brand Composite railing in the boxes. For each 6ft section, it would cost us $24 which is an amazingly low cost but we can't afford all composite. I was thinking we could do PT or cedar decking with composite railing.
I'ld love input from you guys. Will it work? The railing is gray and we would probably use a gray stain on the wood.
I suppose you can, but I'd recommend looking at some composite railings in person and see what you think of it first. Does anyone locally sell this railing where you can go have a look at it?
If you cant to the entire deck out of composite then do the rails from something low maintenance, the rails take the most time to stain/paint so you might as well make that easier. However I'm not impressed with most composite railings (we do mostly steel) so make sure to look it over good and follow the directions closely (remember to install the ugly squash blocks)
