bullet proof ceiling for bathroom

We are refinishing a bathroom (~5x8.5') with a ceiling at ~7'10" and would like to have a nice but rugged ceiling. A new high volume fan should get most of the moisture out, but am wondering if the forum has ideas about the different finishes that can be used on a ceiling. We are about to sheetrock, then plaster but would like to hear other ideas for this cabin.
Thanks

1x4 T&G PINE - STAINED

Especially for a cabin

Or you could go with cedar!

Add photos when your done!

1/4 inch diamond plate steel always adds a nice bullet proof touch. With a nice aluminum rust resistant finish, moisture should not be an issue for a long, long time.

What caliber are we talking about? Are we worried about incoming or out going?

apply the drywall board and a tape coat.
Prime it and then cedar t&g as a finish surface. Smells great after a shower.

Thanks for the ideas--diamond plate looks to be the clear winner though the wife would like something a bit more aesthetically pleasing!

The way the ceiling works now is that it is the rough side of the 2X6 subfloor for the floor above (which has a foam barrier and a floating laminate on top). To make the floor stronger and stiffer, we have screwed 1 1/8 to each of the 2x6 and a perimeter of 1.5" angle screwed to the 4X10 floor joists (@ 4' centers). The intent is to eliminate any water/steam from the bathroom to the upper floor, and make a pleasing appearance from the shower.

Hey Steve
The issue with moisture in most bathrooms is that people shut off their fans right after they get out of the shower. Best way to remedy that is to put a timer on the fan so that it will run after you get out. Also when you buy a fan IMO I always go the next size up so that its oversized and full out more air.

Make sure you use a good primer and paint!
