Building a work shop

I intend to build a workshop in the barn yard 60' by 16. The structure on top is post and beams... In your opinion is pouring a renforced Pad or slab enough as a foundation..? Are pony walls necessary ...I might do a little ground work or may even build the forms as I do have the machinery ...What are the things that I have to take care ...I do not want to see a crack or a sunken foundation down the road.

What are you going to be doing in the shop? If its going to have heavy machinery in it or anything else heavy its one answer. If it's precision machinery like working with eye glass grinders then its another. And if its general stuff yet a third answer.
