Building Stairs LVLs or Dim Lumber

I'm buying material for stringers today. The choice is to build them out of 3 - LVL stringers or 4 standard 2x12 dimensional lumber. It's a relatively short run of about 12 steps. There's a big price difference between these two materials plus it's an expensive mistake if I mis-cut one of the stringers out of LVL. What do you usually cut stringers from?
TIA

I prefer the LVL's, you will get three consistant pieces of wood, 2x12's good chance you could get 4 different pieces of wood, warped, twisted, checking. Mind you, if you are able to hand pick the lumber use the 2x12's and save a buck or three

I just built my basements steps out of 2 X 12 LVL's and it can hold an elephant! I only used two stringers and the stairs are 34" wide. They say you should use solid wood without knots but I was not able to find any. It was a lot of fun but take your time planning it out.

Alright, LVLs it is. My credit cards are getting a bit stretched, but I guess it's worth it. Thanks.
