Building a shed!

Hello everyone I'm new to this forum and I would like to introduce myself, since I now have more time on my hands I would like to do more home reno's to boost my home's value so I hope to learn a lot from this forum! I want to start by building a shed..one that's simple to build because I am a beginner in this stuff!! Also what are everyone's thoughts on a free standing shed vs a side leaning shed

Building a shed!

I just built a lean to shed onto the back of my garage. I'm a painter, not a carpenter so, of course, I had some problems, but, in the end it turned out pretty nice. There was a slab already in place back there so I took advantage of having a ready made floor. Free-standing I'm sure costs a bit more. My little addition ended up being about 8 X 12 which is great for putting my mower in there as well as other things I don't use that often. Now my garage is less cluttered, at least for now. Good luck with your project.

Building a shed!

Sounds good bro, yeah I'm just trying to find some type of a instruction manual to build one. Where it includes tools materials and everything... How long did it take?

Building a shed!

Any home store has books on building sheds, most library's with have them.
There's thousands of web sites on the net on building sheds with plans.

No one should be even guessing on prices here.
No one even knows where on the planet you are, even if we knew, it would do you no good.
Get a material list and go get some local prices.
Think about it, no ones seen your site, plans, final size, type of siding, roofing style or material, trim, pitch of roof, cost of permits ECT.

Building a shed!

I'm in so-cal and I just built a shed a few months ago. It cost me about $1100 which included the concrete foundation, framing, sheething, siding, window, door, glass inserts, roofing/shingles, and paint.

The shed is 9x7 and and about 9ft tall at its highest point.

Nice shed, Seth! Mine is about 12X8 with a foundation already in place it cost about $800 so I would say the materials cost here in Ohio is similar to the materials cost in SoCal.

I just browsed the web looking at different shed styles then I used Google Sketchup to design something I liked, then built the shed from that.
