Building roof over a deck


I don't know how high your deck is off the ground or where the posts are located under the existing beam but my first thought was to set post at the 10ft beam and run beams for the rafters and ceiling joists to sit on, including a 2ft cantilever also, tieing back into the house. That is a lot of weight for two posts though. You might mention that to your engineer.
