Building materials? (drywall, etc) (besides Homedepot, RONA etc) (Toronto, Ontario)
Hi, I know homedepot and RONA are two big retailers for build materials, but just wondering if there are any other smaller retailers around Great Toronto Area? I heard HOMEDEPOT and RONA are not cheap, that is why I am asking.

I guess depends on what type of materials you are asking... there are always some places sell one type of materials other than HD... but then... it is very inconvenient in terms of location and refund policy... so up to now...90% of my material still come from HD... but then... I wouldn't mind trying others if they do sell much cheaper... like interlock stones... anyone know the price difference if any when buying from HD and specialized store...

You should get better support and the associated materials/tools if you buy your pavers from a outlet that specializes in hardscape materials. You won't buy as cheap since HD is generally a "low baller". There is more to cost than material price.

I'm sure local market conditions affect competitive pricing structures, but here's what I've learned about the Nampa, ID area where I live. HD sells drywall for less money than does a specialty drywall supplier. But, and this is a big but, for a whole house job the drywall supplier will stock the drywall sheets throughout the house when they deliver. HD drops the whole load on the driveway. If a customer of HD insists on having the rock stocked around the house they sell the job to the sheetrock supplier, and charge accordingly!

You meant they even moved the drywall into the basement for you? rather than dumping it into your garage? HD dump it to the garage for me rather than drive way as they have those little truck ... I agree this is a big labour save if they do that...

I haven't bought any yet, but I've been told they will stock it in bedrooms, living room, upstairs, downstairs, wherever you need. I see their trucks go out w/ driver & helper. That's why they're higher priced than HD.
