I have a very large space that I want to build a lofted office space in. The ceiling height isn't issue. The lofted space will be in the corner of the space so 2 sides of the loft will be attached to a dry walled wall.
I'm fine with the construction of the actual loft floor, but how should I go about securing the structure to the walls? or should I just build a free standing lofted space and then secure the flooring to wall as added strength?
You need to concern yourself with the loads, both live and dead on the floor it rests on. It the flooring up to this task?
It wouldn't hurt to mention the span involved and your framing plan to deal with it, as it helps to hear the whole story.
