build a temporary space

Bought a new house, basement is unfinished, the project to finish the basement isn't slated to start for another 1 to 5 years. For now I want to have some kind of space for a home office in the basement now even though the rest of the basement is unfinished.

What are my options for getting a temporary space/room down there?

P.S. - the location of this temporary space will most likely differ from the location of the final home office when we finally finish the basement... in other words I'd prefer to have something easily created and easily torn down

What is it that you're trying to accomplish?

Visual privacy?
Sound dampening?
Climate isolation?
Aesthetic appeal?

Aesthetic appeal, I guess, with a bit of climate isolation and visual privacy.

Well in the apartment we're currently moving out of, my home office shares a space with the dining room. Its tacky to say the least. I don't want to have the same setup in the new house and prefer my home office to have its own dedicated space even though its temporary and the basement is unfinished, nasty and cold.

I guess I'm thinking there's a quick, easy and cheap alternative to putting up frames, insulation, drywall, flooring, doors, windows, lighting, power, network & cable outlets and whatever else goes into constructing a room/space.

Any ideas?

If you want all those things here are few options.
Paint the floor instead of flooring.
No insulation.
Use cheap wood panelling instead of drywall and mudding.
A pole with a curtain instead of a real door.
OR
Buy a big blue tarp and hang it from the floor joists as walls.

Outstanding ideas! Thanks! I think even I can manage something like that (I have little to no handy man skills). And if I did want some kind of poor man's insulation solution (I fear its going to be colder than I think down there)?
