Bricklaying cement mix

hi

You were asking about a 12" garden wall in a previous post. I don't believe you really need to go threw the measures you are asking about for your final goal. I am posting a link on building retaining walls from hometime. I hope it is of some help deciding what you actually will have to do for your application

http://www.hometime.com/Howto/projects/retain.htm

But anwer you qesation the easist thing for a diy to do is buy a prebleded product like the links below

http://www.quikrete.com/catalog/MortarMix.html

The mix a mason uses vary and I would welcome other input but a produt like this should be fine.

Here is quickrete tip on makin brick walls

Don't forget that you wll want "cap " the top of you wall with somthing as well.
