Boxing around ductwork

I'm refinishing my basement and I have ductwork that runs across the center of the ceiling. I'm planning to box it in and cover with drywall, then install suspended ceiling on each side. For framing around the ductwork, I'm going to use 2x2, building short walls on each side and joining them across the width. My question ... where the total width of the box is 6ft, to span two ducts, do I need additional bracing in the middle (between the ducts) to support the weight of the drywall when the box is finished, to prevent sagging?
