box vents in roof

Former owner insolated attic rafters without vent shute. The roof is new, and on back side of roof installed 2 box vents. My question is, what is proper way to vent roof, do i pull insolation, install vent shute and go with it or do i need to cut in ridge vent? There is soffit vent. Thank you!

The baffles stop incoming soffit air from wind-washing the insulation; http://www.bergerbuildingproducts.co...sAccuvent.html

You should have soffit vents in every rafter bay and a baffled ridge vent making a balanced system; http://www.oikos.com/esb/30/atticvent.html
