ovahimba Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: San Francisco Bay Area Posts: 141	Bolting deck railing posts I am attaching 4x4 redwood posts for my deck railing. I see on some websites that the bolts are staggered horizontally by about an inch. I assume this is to minimize splitting. However it is not pleasing to the eye. It looks like some hack installed them. For those out there that build decks, does it make that much of a difference? Attached Thumbnails
