block walls
 
okay folks need some suggestion ! have a block wall im building
the first wall is 8"x16"x150ft behind that is a 16" planter then behind the planter is another wall thats 8" x 4ft x 150 i have a seperation in the wall for the walkway ------ ------ at the walkway entrances i need to put a collum at both sides right now im planning on a basic square 24x24x 4ft6" but wanted a newer look. Im laying block tonight will leave collums for last thanks.all your suggestions would help !! thanks

You could use bullnose block to give the columns rounded edges for a nominal increase in cost.

Depending on your budget and where you are, you could use some split architectural block and really have an accent at the entrance/walkway. If you have a good local block producer, you may be able to buy a few split corners (8x8x16) as an over-run for a large job.

In any case, make sure you have adequate vertical reinforcement in the wall and especially at the ends.
