bird house

I am finishing up on a blue jay house for a friend of mine. I just finished buying some cedar siding wood that has a taper to it. It's about a 1/4" thick on one end and goes to about 1/8". Do I put the thin end at the peak (top) of the house or vise versa. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like you have a shake shingle. I'd put the thicker end down so you'd have good slope for drainage.

This sounds rather thin for a bird house. I usually use 3/4" stock.

It's the roof. I did the sides in 1".
