which is better to fasten a 3x3 aluminum column to a concrete slab ?

getting a composite roof overhang to my back patio done. One company says they fasten with :

-3/8 stainless wedge anchors

another company says they will fasten the columns to the concrete using :

-tapcons

is there really a big difference between the two ? I am in South Florida and we are in hurricane country.

Thanks...

ps...the roof overhang will look like this :

I would use the wedge anchors. My experience with Tapcons had been more frustrating than not. The diameter of the drilled hole is crucial to their holding power. Even when using the proper Tapcon bit, the least amount of drift or wobble weakens the connection consideably, often resulting in a stripped out hole.

Man...what should I do. The price from contracter # 1 that uses the wedge anchors to fasten the columns to the slab is 4K. The price from contracter # 2 that uses the tapcons is 3,280. what should one do...

Tell the less expensive contractor that you like his proposal, but want the roof anchored with wedge anchors instead of Tapcons. The worst he can do is tell you that he wants to charge you a few $ more because the wedge anchors cost a little more. If the $ difference is reasonable and you are Ok with everything else, you are still ahead on the price. If I were in his position, I would just agree without any $ mention; pretty absured to lose a job over such an insignificant cost item. If he is quoting his price so close that such a few dollars matters, I'd worry about if he was going to be in business long enogh to solve any warranty problems anyway.
