Best way to knock out this post?

Hi All,

I am planning to get rid of this little post that is acting as a doorway into my kitchen. The only problem I am thinking about is that the top of the door does not line up with the top of the the other opening. The top of the opening to the right has 3 lights shining down.

Any suggestions how to knock this baby out and create a nice opening?

That little post looks to be holding up the header across both doors.

Yep. probably a load bearing wall also.once you get your new header in that spans both openings,it should be nice and straight.

You may also get a new sky light if you knock that out.
