Best flooring for basement!

I am gutting my poured concrete basement an was wondering two things... Firstly, what type of flooring should I be using( especially if I want to use carpet)... An second, what type of vapor barrier do I use on the walls... Or is spry foam my best bet? I appreciate any help! Thanks and happy holidays!!!

Firstly, what type of flooring should I be using... First, ensure that your floor is dry. If not, then I'd not put anything on it. If dry, it depends on how cold it is. Some people put rigid foam down, then flooring; there are various permutations of that. Avoid vapor barrier flooring, like vinyl, unless you are absolutely positive it is absolutely dry absolutely all the time.... which you absolutely can't.

An second, what type of vapor barrier do I use on the walls... None below grade. Put a vb on the floor if you desire.

Or is spry foam my best bet? Rigid foam is probably the best on basement walls. Search here for "basement wall insulating".

see after bullets.
