BBQ pit project

Hello , new to the construction game . This spring, i want to start a BBQ pit project. Being new to this i have a few questions. Since i want to make it all out of cement and bricks. I'm going to need to know if there are any good how to sites. how thick should the base of it be? i want to make it 10 ft by 12 ft and have the cooking area be 4 1/2 feet high would this be plenty of room ? i want to allow room for a small brick table and a brick trash bin too . any help would be awesome thank you all !

When you say "base" Im assuming you mean footing / foundation. When I pour slabs for 8 person hot tubs the concrete pad or slab I pour is 6 inches thick. You can get away with four inch thickness. That is standard thickness for concrete patios, walkways, garage slabs etc. Home foundation footings are Standard 6" and 8" if that is any indication

4 and 1/2 feet high? Sheesh! How tall are yo? Thats a 54" work surface. Your kitchen counters are 36" high. If that feels comfortable to you, I would not go any higher then that.

Little Joe---tell us your location----That will help with frost lines--and post a link to any pit that looks like a starting point for your own design.
