Bathroom Renovatiom Ideas Needed
Hello Everyone,
I'm a long time reader and a first time poster so please bare with me. I have a bathroom upstairs that is in a drastic need of a remodel. It is the only room in the house without natural light and it definitely needs it due to it's size, about 8 x 8. In the pictures I have attached you can see the shower stall and the dark red tiles, which don't help. Some ideas I had were to get a sky light installed but the slope of the roof is so small I don't know if one would fit. I want to avoid the tube lights just due to personal preference. So I guess my question is if anyone has any other suggestions on how to make this bathroom more livable. If more pictures are needed I'll be happy to provide them. Thank you for your time and any response would be greatly appreciated. |

That is the exterior wall. I was reluctant to put a window there due to it actually being in the shower. Do you think that would turn out decent?

you can put in a window with frosted glass, which would keep privacy. you could put a small window up higher so that it does not get direct water on it and that will let in natural light. i had one in a previous house and it was just below shoulder height at the sill and it was fine... caulk it well and it will be ok.

That sounds like a much easier solution then messing with a skylight. Would you by chance have any ideas about the shower stall? I know a curtain gives you the illusion of more space so I was considering that. They only problem is with the slanted ceiling. I thought maybe buying a curved shower rod and have it rotated 90 degrees

Google "frameless shower enclosures".
We used to put them in our higher end homes (back when I was still a superintendent), they were very easy on the eyes and provided a more seamless transition between bathroom and shower. This might be a good route for you to go. I second the idea of putting in some glass block windows, that would look pretty sharp and getting you your requested natural light.

If you dont go the shower stall route, changing that tile out to a lighter color will also help

I'm not too sure if that is how you would classify it. Here is a picture from the outside.
In the center of that is the bathroom. There is closet space on both sides of the bathroom that could be used to expand it if needed |
