Basement Pole wraps vs pillars

I am in the home stretch of finisihing my basement and i have a few final decisions to make.

I found online that they make pole wraps but they are less expensive then the nice pillars i can buy. It looks like the pole wraps are around 40 - 60 dollars depending the wood finish i choose. My question is what experience has everyone else had. I don't mind spending the extra money and getting pillars but i want to make sure they worth the money on both looks and quality. Also does anyone have any sites they can recomend??? I was thinking about calling the local lumber company but am afriad they will be too expensive.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure what a 'pole wrap' is, but I assume it is the same thing you could make yourself. A simple box around the pole is sufficient, or nothing. Use it for a decorative paint scheme.

I'm guessing this is the type of thing the OP is talking about.

Can't give any advice because I've never used it, but I'm also interested in the answer.

I used one of these on my last home. It was still nice when I sold it 4 years later. They also sell a kit that makes up a base and top crown that looks quite nice.
