Isn't that an awfully tight kitchen entrance?

How come the door sits so far off the wall in the upper office?

This is just a rough sketch for now, lot of things are going to be refined over the next couple months not sure why the door moved so far up, must of nudged it when i was doing something else... the kitchen are will be smaller thats just a temporary cabinet set for show right now... need to talk to some cabinet guys about what would look best there for the space and the strange wall behind the kitchen that is empty space that is where pipes go from the upper floors into the foundation for sewage and such... there will be an access hatch on the one office to get to the cleanout pipe for it

anyone know what clearances are required around a gas furnance and gas water heater? I find the ones listed in the manuals for them hard to believe.... the gas water heater says 1" on sides 2" on back and 2 ft on front...

Your LOCAL Code should tell you. Inside the furnace door is a clearances to combustibles. May need outside air source for gas units, or louvered doors. Check your County's web page for requirements. Don't forget the egress window or door required for basements: http://www.aacounty.org/IP/Resources...ementGuide.pdf http://illowaicc.org/uploadedFiles/I...20Openings.pdf http://www.pwcgov.org/docLibrary/PDF/005575.pdf pp. 4 + 6: http://www.codecheck.com/cc/images/CC5thEdSample.pdf http://www.codecheck.com/cc/pg19_20mechanical.html http://pdfdatabase.com/search/code-check-hvac.html

Be safe, Gary
