Basement Design Ideas

Hi experts,

I'm currently in the process of finishing my basement and was hoping to get some ideas for a wall. I've attached pictures. Above the "existing" frame will be about 3' of exposed concrete. There will be a soffit about 10" down from the floor joists (ceiling). I'm trying to figure out what to put below. Plumbing is out of the question. Do I try and build custom cabinets of some sort or purchase cabinets from Lowe's, HD, etc.? Building the entire wall full of cabinets was shot down by the wife.

Looking for some creative ideas here.

Thanks,
Brandon

Looks good. Are you going to finish the walls. The reason Im asking is you need to install furring strips every 24 with maybe 1x4. Gives you room to put wires then maybe sheetrock and to install the cabinets. Homer and Lowes have the cabinets that should range from 16 to 36. If you have a gap just add a filler on both sides. Draw it out on the wall that way you know where in case to add more furring strips just in case.

Looks like you started to build a bottle shelf for a wet bar, I'm no artist but here goes. I figured I would start this creative session off with a man cave.

The plan is to leave the concrete exposed. I'll most likely put cabinets below. However, it's only about 20" deep. Are you saying they have cabinets from 16"-36"? Are those base or wall hanging?

I'm thinking about looking up plans to build your own cabinets but I wouldn't have a clue how to build "decent" looking doors.

Why leave the concrete exposed ?
Where I am I'd cover it with rigid insulation then sheathing to keep the basement warmer & to prevent water vapor from coming in

Cabinets for kids storage ?
Adult area ? ...in that case a bar area = mirror & bottles on that wall

Here's the look we're going for? Yes, enclosing the walls would improve the energy effeciency. I have insulated the floor joists (ceiling) and might insulate the 1/2 walls as well. Building the soffit is going to plug a lot of the holes at the top of the foundation walls.
