I'm looking for a way to get maximum height in an area of the basement .
Most will get suspended ceiling and no problems forseen but an area before the stairs has the furnace hot/cold runs right above.
Door top trim will be right in harms way .
Its a hall area that opens to the main area past the Lam beam , 5'1" x 14'
( bordered on 1 side by a Lam & the other by the theater room wall )
Would it be possible to hang 3/4 plywood with a support in the middle ( an inch away from the furnace run ),
I need to run a couple of cans in it also.
If I ran mineral wool or glass between the joist would that suffice as a fire stop?
