Thanks Ron for the clarification! I am worried that vinyl on concrete, even with a vapor barrier would be too cold. I'm in Wisconsin and we get some cold winters! Wondering about the easiest subfloor I can install with moderate protection from the cold cement. I would say I have average construction skills, however I have never taken on this particular task. Any advice would be very helpful, thanks again!
I bought a dimpled role of hard plastic from Lowes. The roles are 3' by 50'. The dimples are a little over 1/4" high. It allows air to circulate underneath it. The walls are slightly raised to help the flow of air. It helps to prevent the buildup of moisture on conctete. I used a sealer on the concrete floor. I covered the plastic with toungue and groove waferboard. I installed carpeting over it. The flloor does not get cold and it's comfortable to walk on. Lowe's and Home Depot sell 2' X 2' boards with the raised plastic built in. I did it my way to cut the costs down.
