Backsplash Tile Question
I am going to install tile on a clean drywall surface on the backsplash in my kitchen. What should I use to adhere it? I bought mortar versabond. Now I am reading I should have gotten mastic? What is mastic?

The tile is ceramic 1 foot squares made up of small tiles. Any help is appreciated.

I hate mastic, but for this application you could use either thinset (versabond) or mastic. Thinset gets my vote.

Is there a pro/con to each? Is one more expensive than the other?

Mastic can't be used in areas that get wet (specifically tubs and showers). Mastic makes a mess of your tools and your tile if you aren't perfectly clean. Almost every time I see tile falling off the wall, they were mounted with mastic years ago.

Thinset is easy to clean up, and forms a crystalline structure bond since it is a cement-based product. If you get it on the face of a tile you can easily clean it up before it dries. It cleans off of your tools easily.

Either would work for your application though.
