back door won't open- kids stuck outside!

Actually they aren't stuck, they could walk around, if i would open the fence, or crawl through the window on the door since the lab ruined the screen...but I'd like to open my door! It is a metal door on a sun room addition, the knob won't even turn, one of the kids slammed it on their way out, and the know doens't tuen. i removed the door knob, but am lost now, what is my next step?

A screwdriver inserted into the door handle turning assembly usually does the trick. If that fails you may have to take the hinge pins out of the door and remove the door. Then you can buy new door hardware or fix the problem.

Pics will help. Also, this is a PERFECT time to teach your kids about DIY. Some of my favorite memories are of helping my mom and dad do stuff around the house.

got it open with a screw driver, thanks! And I agree I love having the kids help me fix things, being the mom of two girls I want them to know moms can fix stuff too!
