AW 2579514 door lock failed

I have AW 2579514 door lock in our side door. We could not lock the door, since the nob is rotating full. How do we repair this.

Is this an Andersen window(AW) lock? If not, you need to supply a little more information.
If this is an Andersen lock with a deadbolt, the spindle sounds like it broke. When you say knob, are you referring to the deadbolt knob?

AW 2579514 door lock failed

Ron6519,

I have the same problem. The only markings on the door is and AW so I don't know if the manufacturer is A.W. Hastings or Andersen Windows. The problem is that the "T" style knob is connected to the locking mechanism in the door by way of, what amounts to, a square keyway. It appears that the keyway is held in place, in the lock, by a small cylindercal piece that has twisted off the end of the keyway.
To lock the door one is required to lift the interior handle before the "T" knob can be turned to lock the door.
Is it possible to post some pictures on this chatroom to clairify the problem?

Thank you,

Smittie

Were you able to fix your door? I also have a similar problem. Mine doesnt open because the corner ear deadbolts wont disengage and the door handle is stuck. The middle deadbolt twists on and off okay. Any ideas?
