Hello all. I would like to ask a question concerning bracing for a pole barn. I have built a 10x20 pole barn with 6 6x6 posts placed 10' apart. Would 3 single 2x10's be enough cross bracing to keep the walls from spreading from roof weight? I would like to stay away from a ridge beam and/or rafter ties.

if you do not want a ridge beam or rafter ties have you considered roof trusses? this is typical for a post-frame building

I have already installed rafters with 10/12 pitch. I used 2x4 rafter ties 1/3 up and these are in the way of a small loft area I installed above the tack room. There is only about 2.5' of clearance above the floor to the ties. With the 2x10's already bracing the tops of the 6x6's I thought that might be enough lateral support and I could remove the ties above the loft floor. I wonder if the roof and walls will still be supported enough?
