In planning the next stage(s) of my second floor renovations (http://www.diychatroom.com/f103/100-year-old-house-insulation-204797/) I need to figure out how to do the attic ventilation and I am looking for ideas.
Because of the temperature extremes here on the prairies (-40C, +35C) and the style of my house construction I would like to use temperature-controlled or manually controlled louvres for air intake to the 'cold zone' behind the knee walls (soffit ventilation is NOT possible) and thermostat-controlled powered gable vents to vent the attic space but I can't find products available in Canada.
What is available for forced ventilation in hot weather and 'button-down' in the cold?
(I MISS the old Mike Holmes forum! There were LOTS of people with really creative solutions!)
