Attic Stairs - Wood or Aluminum

Hello,
I am replacing a set of pull down attic stairs. My choices are wood with springs or aluminum with gas pistons.
Any recommendations?
Thanks

Attic Stairs - Wood or Aluminum

You might want to check with your local building code official. Some localities have mandated (or banned the wood) the aluminum (example- Horry county, SC). The aluminum is much sturdier.
