Attaching speakers to Cement fiber-board siding

Our new home has cement fiber board siding which I haven't worked with before.

I want to install outdoor speakers. Are there special screws to use or would wood screws work just as well?

Thank you.

You can use any screws that won't rust and are long enough to grab the sheathing. Predrill the holes in the siding. It will make driving the screw much easier.

I'd be looking for another way to hang them.
Waters going to find it way in at some point, unsealed Hardee Plank falls apart when it gets wet.

install speakers to studs behind the siding and seal all penetrations with quality sealer, ( caulk). can't always rely on there being a solid sheathing behind the siding except possibly on the corners of the house, blackboard is a real popular sheathing and will not prevent pullout from occurring.

you should be installing mounting blocks on the wall before the siding goes up.. then you side up to the block..

use stainless steel screws to anchor the speakers

Sometimes it's hard to hang things level and securely outdoors as well. I hung 4 speakers outdoors recently using this hardware Ad removed- I hung them to wood studs on my covered patio...

Thanks all for your suggestions. I know there is sheathing (OSB) behind the siding, but not sure about blocks in place. I will get at least one screw of each speaker mount into a stud and make sure to caulk any holes I have made in the siding.

Thanks again.
