Attaching porch railing to brick

Hi,

I would like to put up a railing across my front porch. I bought the balusters, the upper railing, and a 2x4 for the lower railing. I have three square columns on the front and a brick house on the two sides.

I'd like to attach the railing from the column to the brick. What's the best way to do this? I was thinking about attaching a 2x4 that's about 2" long to the end of the railing, then attaching this to the brick by way of cement anchors. The, do the same on the other end of the railing, but attaching it to the column instead. Kind of like just an end block so that I can attach it to the brick.

Any thoughts or recommendations? Thanks in advance!
