Attaching Lean-To to Stucco Home

My home is stucco over concrete block. Assuming I can get approval from the HOA, I'd like to construct a 4' x 8' lean-to for additional storage.

I would like to attach the lean-to to the exterior wall but since stucco is not exactly smooth, I'm not sure how to transition the walls and the roof of the shed. There are lots of "critters" down here and I don't want to leave a gap between the shed and the exterior of the house.

I'm not sure whether I'll use Hardie "stucco" board or have actual stucco applied to the structure.

Looking for ideas.

Thanks.

If it was mine I'd be building a free standing shed with a shed style roof.
That way there's 0 chance of any wall damage.

And leave a small gap between the shed and house? This might be the way to go but it seems there would be a lot of water, critters and debris finding there way into that gap.

Also, if I'm going to get this by the HOA, it's going to need to be very slim.

Cut and remove stucco in the area of the 2x4's that will attach to the wall.
The finish the shed and stucco to match, yep very very difficult.
Basically treat it like an addition.

Or

Use treated stud against stucco and caulk it. Not the best.
