attaching fence pickets

Can I use a nail gun and 1 1/2" galvanized nails to attach my fence pickets? I figured this would be a lot easier then screwing each board in

I've used coiled shingle nails, ring shanked (I believe they were 6d)! Don't use finishing nails, make sure you use full headed nailes too, not clipped headed nails.
