I know there are other posts on this, but I think my situation is a little different than those others.
I want to add a deck and attach it to the house. The siding is brick veneer. This means that I will have to attach it to the 1st row of concrete block below the veneer. There is parging on the the concrete block. The blocks are hollow, of course.
This raises a few issues:
1. There is no siding under which to put the flashing, so the flashing may not be totally waterproof.
2. What type of anchors to use. I have heard that expanding bolts would crack the hollow concrete block.
3. Will the existing parging effect things. Should it be removed ?
