Asphalt needed at end of driveway.

At the end of my drive where the drive meets the roadway there is a patch that needs more blacktop. Can I buy a bag of blacktop patch/ repair or it only comes from a company or dept of road. If there is something out there does it need to be heated? HOw will it adhere to the old asphalt and not crumble away?

You can use a cold patch product like this: http://www.coldasphalt.com/

hi,

you can use a COLD MIX product which you don't have to head and can buy a single bag which could be easily implemented on patch.

Not sure where you live, but here in Omaha that part of the driveway is the responsibility of the city.

Cold patch is kind of like a band aid. It'll fill holes or can be tamped into open cracks. But it isn't a really permanent fix. To correctly repair the driveway the old asphalt needs to be removed/milled down and re-laid, or at least patched with hot patch. Hot patch isn't a DIY thing, so cold patch is probably your best bet until you're ready for a new drive.

Edit: just realized this thread is two years old.
