asphalt driveway

I have a concrete pad that butts up against the asphalt driveway. In the winter when it heaves it always cracks the edge of the asphalt. I want to have a new driveway put in should there be something between the edge of the asphalt and the concrete?

Nope,... The basic blacktop to concrete interface is just Fine the way it is...
You should figure out Why it's heaving,+ Fix that...
It's usually caused by improper drainage,+ a backup of groundwater Under the area that's heaving....

The only thing that should be between the two dissimilar paving materials is sealant. Hot rubber is best, but for a small D-I-Y job I would use Sonneborn SL-1, or Sikaflex, or equiv. Just make sure it is compatible with asphalt and concrete.

I used Novalink SL on my concrete driveway because it is much faster drying, only two days until full cure. Note - Novalink SL is not recommended for use with asphalt.
