? asbestos ceiling tiles

Ok, the debates of debates in my house renovative marriage.....

My wife and I own a farm house built in 1963 in No Carolina and it has the 12" acoustic ceiling tiles that were popular back then.....I have removed them from other houses before(pain in the behind), and I know there is an Asbestos issue possibly developing.....do they or don't they have it...I could get them checked.....they are all in tact, dry, but stained from southern fried cookin' and age, and they passed all inspections when we bought the house......can I or can't I put dry wall over them instead of removing them...we have 8 ft ceilings...what is an inch or so if we just go over them(?), and wouldn't it add insolation as well?

Have them tested and if they have asbestos then TURF THEM. I should mention that a qualified person should do this.

Friends. So can some one answer the rest of the question. Can I just dry wall over the top of the tiles, and utilize what is there for insulation?
