Asbestos in this?

Hello, I am closing on a house I am buying in a few days and am wondering if anyone could share some insight on what are my chances of asbestos being in the material pictured below? It appears to be some sort of insulation or soundproofing material (?) between all the 1st level floor joists. Unfortunately due to purchase terms, I am unable to get it tested in time prior to closing as this is cash / quick close purchase.

Any thoughts on what this material is?

Sure looks like it.
I thought they were legaly obligated to disclose if there was asbestos?
If there trying to rush this through then that should be your first red flag.

Unfortunately, it looks like just the kind of material that could have it. What bothers me more is that the white stuff sprayed on it looks like the encapsulant that we use over asbestos that can't be readily removed.

Looks like that straw like packing material that fruit comes in, that somebody sprayed with gray paint from an airless sprayer to me. I have never seen ACM like that.

Never seen asbestos that looks like that. Looks like a jute type insulating material.
As for the paint, it sure does not look like it is encapsulating anything. Looks more like the stuff they spray to cover/mask the smell after a fire.

It is difficult to determine from a photo, but I think it looks like the old horse hair insulation. Yes, hair from a horse. How old is the house?

Thanks everyone for the responses. I was able to get a PLM test done on a sample today and asbestos was not detected in the material. Still not sure what exactly it is, but as long as it's not asbestos, I'm happy

That was my first thought. Anytime you see white paint = Red Flag

Glad to hear that you got it figured out right. That is the best thing to do and you did right by getting it tested.
