Any one seen insulated drywall before

Hi,

I'm familiar with bricks, mortar, plaster even century old oak timbers, framed buildings and basements everything is new to me and this is.
Does anyone know what this stuff is called and who makes or sells it (I'm living in Calgary, Canada). The insulation has not just been stuck on in a couple of places it is on the back of all the drywall and the thickness is even every where I have checked.

Any help gratefuly received.

Oh yeah, my basement flooded, the insurance company's 'restoration' company removed the bottom 2 foot of drywall and are now trying to say that it is too difficult to replace!

In 22 years in the industry....I have NEVER seen a product being sold like this....and we stay very CLOSELY in touch with the supply industry on a commercial, industrial, and architectural level.

Honestly: This looks like an onsite retro-fit.

My thoughts (flawed or not):

This seriously looks like something that someone made using some roofing insulation panels that they attached with adhesives .....to the back of your:

"plain-old-average" everyday 1/2" sheetrock.

Not sold anywhere....

That is my 2 cents and I am sticking with it.....

Is there 6 mil. vapor barrier between the insulation and the drywall?
I'm with Atlantic, this stuff is a mystery to me.

Ah-hah!.....That is very possible. Now that you mention it, that does look like a section of a SIPS panel...

Hi,

Thanks for the advice gives me something to work on.
Looking more carefuly I can see that the corners have been mitre cut to meet ecactly and the first 1/4" from the dry wall was undercut.

Now I just need to find if any one local still does this of some way of bodging a repair.

Cheers

Jim
