aluminum siding has galvanic reaction?

Does aluminum siding have a galvanic reaction to iron and galvanized nails or any other metal? Is it long lasting? The stuff I've used seems to be pretty hardy.

Why are you asking?
Aluminum siding is almost never used anymore for a bunch of reasons.

aluminum flashing is used quite steadily both in renovatins and new construction today. when i install it i use either aluminum or stainless steel painted ring nails. roofing nails work fine also

the key thing to avoid is having it contact with pressure treated lumber as the chemicals in the wood will turn the aluminum to ash. most contractors use aluminum to flash deck ledgers however they dont do anything to keep the aluminum out of contact with the pt wood. i run a strip of 4" vycor or blueskin along the top of the entire ledger which stops the aluminum from touching the wood

The table at the bottom tells you how much voltage difference you can tolerate in the presence of moisture

Keep copper products (including Modern Pressure Treated Lumber) away from aluminum. Also, if working with concrete & masonry - use lead flashing.

So don't use it around concrete/fiberglass floor membranes?
